Lake Minnetonka, Excelsior Minnesota
Here are a few worthwhile Minnesota lakes and Minnesota fishing blogs that I read:
- I always learn something every time I read “The Sky Blue Waters Report.” Here’ an interesting article about “flying carp” in Lake Superior: “Badly needed measure to stop the spread of silver carp.”
- Lakes and Ponds Unlimited Informative post on curlyleaf pondweed.
- Great Lakes Blogger. What is “Rock Snot?”
- Minnesota Waters. Not exactly a blog, but a good resource for people who are interested in keeping their lakes clean.
- Nate’s Fishing Blog. This guy does more fishing than blogging, which means he may actually kinow something. Sometimes he even catches trout.
- Loon Commons. A blog about Minnesota’s environment. Have you ever seen a loon zoom underwater like a fast torpedo alongside your canoe? I will never forget it. Here’s a great video of a loon swimming underwater.
- From Shore to Shore. A blog dedicated to promoting good health for Minnesota lakes. Dogs dying from drinking lakewater? Check out this post about blue green algae toxicity.
- Here’s a fun post about how quickly you can die from hypothermia in a Minnesota Lake. Posted by an Anoka County real estate agent.
- Here’s a not-so-fun blog post about Minnesota lakes becoming too warm to support walleye, in a few decades or so.
- Do you think you know all about bass fishing and cold fronts? See all of the common myths debunked by hard science. Everything you know is wrong.
- Catch Musky Fever. Are you old enough to remember the Muskie Rampage of ‘55?
- Lake Minnetonka Association. If you care about Lake Minnetonka (and who doesn’t?) learn about the association’s efforts to control invasive species.
- Check out a great photojournal about Minnesota fishing openers, and you won’t ever miss another one.
- Here’s a great photostream about Minnesota fishing at Flickr.
- Rich Lindgren’s Bassin’ bog will keep you up to date on the latest tackle.
- The Dharma Blog is sort of a Walden Pond online, quoting everything from Wendell Berry to Kerouac. Bringing Zen mind to fly fishing in a stream.
